Memorable moments from DAY 1 ADAMUN Conference dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of cooperation between the United Nations and Azerbaijan.

VLADANKA ANDREEVA WAS CAUGHT BY INSTAGRAM LOVERS

Madam Vladanka Andreeva could not have an opportunity to speak with colleagues because of constant interruptions from “May I take a photo with you?” requests. The speed with which photos were taken achieved 10 photos in one minute. Madam Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator, could have resisted to youngsters’ attacks and was very nice to learn the names and majors that delegates study. Moreover, she asked the delegate of Brazil (no Committee is mentioned) what language is spoken in his country to check his basic knowledge of the country he is presenting to. Hearing “Spanish language” as an answer did have enough force to surprise Madam Coordinator.

Moral of the story: Before searching about the country's issues and their solutions, it is great to learn basic details from Wikipedia at least.

SMART FARMING. NO, BUT YES

During Committee Session 1, motion made by the United States of America was passed. The topic is “Mobilizing Investments in Innovative Climate Smart Solutions”. The success story of this motion was darkened by the skepticism of the delegates who, actually, were voting for it. The main skeptic of COP is the delegation of Brazil. All ideas are passed through his attentive vision and he prefers to add comments, and take leadership where possible. So, after “family hit each other” delegates started to warmly support the United States of America.

Moral of the story: if you are in “Big Politics” choose one line of actions and follow it till it is “melted”.

FUNNY CHAIR AND HIS PUNISHMENTS

It was 12:30 and the unmoderated caucus has ended. Unfortunately, not all delegates could reach their seats on time. That is when the attentive eyes of the Chair caught victims of time management. I guess, the delegates did not expect to dance along to the song “Baby Shark”. That is what life hadn't prepared them for.

After the first punishment, shame and lack of confidence flew away. Every next punishment was met with high enthusiasm and even the Delegate of the United States of America joined the punishment by own will. Delegates could have shown their dancing abilities thanks to the hit “Single Ladies” by Beyonce. It would be right to mention a performance by the Mexican delegate who made it hot.

In COP punishment touches everyone. So, with this said, “Life is a boomerang”. The Chair was late and delegates were for taking revenge and see how the Chair will prove his high position in the COP. Unfortunately, media representatives were not allowed to take any photos or videos. In spite of that, you would like to be here and see it with your own eyes. The prize of “The Best Dancer” goes to His Excellency Chair.

Hope the last and the least punishment has touched Germany. The delegate after some fight accepted his fate and made the concert that everybody highly enjoyed.

Moral of the story: be not afraid of getting out comfort zone because you do not have a choice.

DO NOT LISTEN TO PROVOCATIONS

During Panel Discussion, two big giants of the Earth (Russia and America) were invited to the stage for participating in a Q&A session with the La Monde moderator in it. It is sad to mention that several delegates decided to waste time on Panel Discussion and discussing conflict issues between The Russian Federation and Ukraine. Point of information, it is highlighted on the badges of the delegates and media representatives that they have to focus on Climate Change only (ADA COP). Hope that the priorities of the delegates would be well-balanced during all other days of the Conference.

Moral of the story: the cliché-quote from Odnoklassniki sounds following — Loneness is better than fake closeness (Russia and Europe relationship goals).

CO2 IS TAKEN NOT FROM THE AIR

Dear Delegate of the Federative Republic of Brazil raised a motion on discussing “Using the CO2 for Agriculture”. The attentive delegate missed the possibility that other delegates were not actually acquainted with the methodology and benefits of implementing CO2 in farming. Another moment that disappointed and called a lot of “sighs” from the delegates is that the time of the caucus was 40 minutes. 25 minutes of precious time in 18 countries was wasted on figuring out what Brazil wants to discuss. This was a pity to see that instead of working on saving the World, delegates were throwing words of misunderstanding at each other and the United Kingdom even left the room (the interview is made on this occasion).

Delegate of the Federative Republic of Brazil could not advertise the method well, however, it was in his hand rather than CO2 gases.

Moral of the story: do not sell apples if initially, you did not taste them.

CONCLUSION. MOTIVATION TIME

Being a media representative, it is our job to find both spicy and bright moments from the events. I would admit that Climate Change Conference (COP) was extremely vibrant, positive, and initiative in admitting different motions, participating in unmoderated and moderated causes. Significantly, delegates were passionate to write the Resolution. So, by the Panel Discussion 2, it was almost finished. Warm debates and hard work have created an environment where I have been working and inspired.

See you tomorrow!
